We offer expertise in good governance and security sector reform programmes targeting all concerned actors: government authorities, civil society as well as state and non-state security institutions. We implement projects and programmes or advise project and programme managers on how to reach the best results in a specific context. We possess extensive field experience in the Middle East, West Africa and South America, and are fluent in English, Arabic, French, Portuguese, Spanish and German.
We conceptualised and implemented a security needs assessment with Syrians in Germany. It was specifically designed to understand citizens’ needs and identify entry points for citizen-oriented security sector reform efforts. It analyses how the Syrian security system would need to change so that Syrians could feel safe and secure in post-war Syria.
We advised the Office of the Quartet (Jerusalem) on gender and the rule of law, with a specific focus on the Palestinian Judicial Police.
We also advised GIZ on how to integrate the concept of new social contracts in development interventions in the MENA region.
We regularly train the German Armed Forces on the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Sustainable Development Goal 16 and Middle East politics.
We trained civil society organisations in managing development projects in Germany and abroad.
We ASK – DRAFT – ACT. We first understand the needs of all stakeholders involved (ask). We then analyse and formulate results and recommendations in briefings, strategies and policies (draft). Based on the first two steps, we take action (act).
We conduct comprehensive needs assessments and conflict analyses on topics relevant to good governance and security. As part of that, we develop questionnaires and conduct surveys. To cross-check the results, we prepare and implement focus group discussions with target groups.
We formulate the results of needs assessments and analyses in concise briefings and clear strategies. We get input from all stakeholders and formulate recommendations.
We draft stakeholder analyses and actors’ mappings.
We design and manage projects and programmes based on the needs of beneficiaries. We monitor progress and evaluate results. We connect people and establish sustainable networks. We also advise project and programme managers on how to design innovative development interventions.
